When I was 8 years old, I decided to run away from home after a fight with my mother. With my suitcase(手提箱) and some sandwiches in a bag, I started for the front door.
My mom asked where I was going. Im leaving home, I said.
Whats that youre carrying? she asked.
Some clothes and food, I replied.
If you want to run away, thats all right, she said. But you came into this home without anything and you can leave the same way.

Wait a minute, Mom said. You didnt have any clothes on when you arrived, and I want them back.

A group of teenagers: they laugh and talk over each other, dance and make goofy faces---you wouldn’t think they had played the same as famous American singers Kid Cudi and Eminem.
These seven kids, all under the age of 20, are members of the band Kids These Days (KTD).
Fresh out of high school, the band has already achieved things that most teens couldn’t even imagine. They played at festivals including the recent SXSW in Austin and Lollapalooza in their hometown, Chicago, to a large fan base.
KTD uses a mix of hip-hop, jazz, soul, blues and classic rock to create a sound that is very special.
“Kids These Days simply mix most, if not all of my favorite kinds of music into one big masterpiece,” said Kamia Jones, a Chicago-area high school senior. “I like that they aren’t afraid to be different, and that their music is real and speaks to the soul(灵魂).”
The band formed two years ago in the basement(地下室) of one of the lead singers, Liam Cunningham. Now they are becoming popular around the world. Their Facebook page is filled with supportive posts from fans from California to Portugal.
“It’s really strange to me that people from London, Australia They’ve heard of us and they like our music. It’s a really cool feeling,” says Macie Stewart, who plays the keyboard and is a singer for the band.
KTD is a group of normal teenagers and they remain very close to one another. While talking to reporters, they dance and make fun of each other.
When asked what advice they would give to other teen musicians, Greg Landfair Jr, KTD’s drummer, said: “Keep your heart in it. Never lose the music and what you’re doing, because that’s what you’re here for. Let the music always be first.”
