        Celebrating the 15th Anniversary of Chongqing-Incheon FriendshipFriendly Match Photo Exhibition Events Promoting China-Korea ultural Exchange
        2022 marks the 30th anniversary of China-Republic of Korea (ROK) diplomatic relations and the China-ROK Year of Cultural Exchange. On September 29th, the Chongqing Municipal People’s Government and Incheon Municipal Government of the ROK co-hosted a friendly archery match to celebrate the 15th anniversary of Chongqing-Incheon friendship, which was held at the Chongqing Olympic Sports Center and the Asian Games Archery Range in Geyang District, Incheon simultaneously. This friendly match is one of a series of activities to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and the ROK and is also an important component of the China-ROK Year of Cultural Exchange.
        Hu Henghua, Deputy-Secretary of the CPC Chongqing Municipal Committee and Mayor of the Chongqing Municipal Government, and Yoo Jeong-bok, Mayor of Incheon, attended the launching ceremony in the two cities respectively. Xing Haiming, t
he Chinese Ambassador to the ROK, and Choi Youngsam, the Deputy Minister of the ROK Foreign Ministry, were invited to attend and deliver speeches online. The launching ceremony was co-chaired by Wang Wen, Director-General of the Foreign Affairs Office of the Chongqing Municipal Government, and Na Ki-un, Director of International Peace and Cooperation Division.
        The match was held both online and in physical venues, attracting 60 athletes from both cities. They were divided into two groups, professional and amateur, competing online in 12 events of two bow types, recurve bow and compound bow. The athletes compete and engaged in activities online, which enhanced the friendship between the two peoples and promoted cooperation between the two cities.
        At the opening ceremony, the two cities broadcasted each other’s city promotional films and watched the traditional archery performance of Chongqing and the dance performance of youth from Incheon. At the closing ceremony, the heads of Foreign Affairs Offices and sports organizations of the two cities presented awards to the winners. A total of 26 athletes from Chongqing won awards.
        On the same day, Incheon Metropolitan Government held an exhibition of 20 photos of Chongqing, showcasing urban scenery, natural landscape, cultural heritage, and ports & hubs, through which Incheon residents could learn about Chongqing visually. In 2020, to celebrate the first anniversary of the sister-city relations between Shapingba District, Chongqing, and Gyeyang District, Incheon, the two sides also jointly launched a “Shapingba District (Chongqing, China)—Gyeyang District (Incheon, Korea) Photo Exhibition” themed “Shapingba—Gyeyang Images” to promote mutual understanding and mutual trust between the people of both regions.
        Previously, the 2022 East Asia Youth Peace Camp Closing Ceremony, one of a series of activities to commemorate the 15th anniversary of the Chongqing-Incheon friendship, was held on September 16th both online and in physical venues. At the Chongqing venue, faculty and student representatives from Chongqing No.1 Middle School, Chongqing Nankai Middle School, and Chongqing No.8 Middle School had friendly exchanges with those from the partner schools in Incheon, ROK.
        In 2007, Chongqing and Incheon established sister-city ties. In the past 15 years, the two cities have been working together closely in the fields of commerce, exhibition, science & technology, education, sports, etc. The cultural & people-to-people exchanges are increasingly closer, and economic and trade cooperation keeps deepening. From January to August this year, the total import and export volume of Chongqing to Korea stood at RMB53.06 billion, up 52.4% year-on-year. A large number of Korean enterprises have made investments and flourished in Chongqing.
